first post card party was fun & Productive
SDA Indivisibles first post card campaign was fun, and we got a lot done!
We wrote 1,250 postcards to Democratic and Independent voters in the Florida district 1 race for the U.S. House seat vacated by Matt Gaetz. This is a heavily Republican district--Trump won by 30 points in 2024--but the political climate is shifting by the day, and even if Gay Valimont, the progressive opponent, doesn’t win on April 1st, a narrower margin than last time will show that we are gaining ground.
We had been planning to write postcards soon for the New York seat that was supposed to be vacated by Elise Stefanik, whom Trump had chosen to serve as Ambassador to the United Nations. But Trump got scared that Stefanik’s replacement might not win that race, even though her district in upstate New York is also heavily red. So Trump has asked Stefanik to keep her seat in Congress in order to hang onto the Republicans’ razor thin voting margin—after Stefanik made numerous arrangements to step down, such as letting go of staff and holding a farewell tour in anticipation of her confirmation for the Ambassador seat mere days from now.
Currently, there are no postcard or letter writing campaigns in progress—but stay tuned! We will resume writing once more campaigns are available.
Thank you to Jim Brandess for donating over a thousand post cards, and thanks also to Blue Star Barns Coffee and Jane Dickie for hosting our postcard writing events, and to all folks who took cards home with them to write and mail on their own.
