Starting off on a roll
Outside the Coffee Shop
The overflow crowd accessed the meeting on their phones via zoom.
How did this group come to be?
After the 2024 election, 11 locals from the Saugatuck-Douglas area decided they couldn’t sit idly by. They formed the Saugatuck Douglas Area Indivisibles… and we take pride in our "S," which makes us uniquely us!
Dawn Stafford suggested reaching out to Erin Wilkinson (insert shameless plug here) for help with tech stuff and communications. With a group name chosen and a first meeting date chosen, they reserved space at Blue Star Barns coffee shop, expecting maybe around 20-30 attendees.
Within a week, we had a website, email, Facebook, YouTube, Bluesky, and TikTok… and well, word sort of got out and spread like wildfire! Around 200 people showed up to attend our first meeting!
Participants left with a shared feeling of hope and sense that we are not alone!
Politicians should never underestimate the power of people when we come together in community!
We’re off to the races now!!!
